So, you are now up & running & SSG enters Stage 2 of our 2-stage offering. Suddenly, it’s all very serious and about placements and the On-Going Support of a real business.
But guess what? – we have been doing this for a long time, learned a million lessons (good and bad) and continue to work very hard to improve what we do and how we deliver to our fledgling Client businesses.
Unlike the Stage 1 offering (which is essentially a very procedural Project Management task), our provision of on-going support is extremely personal to you & what you want from SSG.
Our internal structure is clear and we focus on three primary areas: recruitment support, back office provision and business mentoring. However, naturally enough depending on you, your preferences and the maturity of your business it is likely that you will need more of one type of support than you do of another, at any particular point.
So, without getting too ephemeral & hippy-like, we know that this is really a journey that will take numerous twists and turns. It is our job to anticipate, respond and deliver what you need, when you need it.
Having said that, it is very much part of our objective to make sure that you can’t get in to any hot water, unless you decide to! After all, we can tell you what the tax man demands, what processes must be followed and what the law decrees, but at the end of the day, when all the cliché’s in the world are put to bed, it’s your business!
Stage 2 – On Going Support
It’s not all
OK, so you are the Recruiter the sharp end & you need the tools to get the job done. SSG promised to deliver against your requirements list but is that enough?
Top teams have
a strong bench
All good sports teams have a great bench, overflowing with talent that the coach can call on when things get tough. Well, SSG is bursting to get on the field!
They say that there is only one resource in life that you cannot replace & that is time. So, why waste it? If you need help, ask for some of ours.
You may not believe it now, but one day the most exciting day of each month will be the day that we deliver to you the Monthly Management Accounts! Sad but true!
As the saying goes,
‘Death & Taxes’
Bearing in mind, you cannot avoid either we think that it is important to know everything that you can about the more scary of the two… Taxation!
You can’t put a price
on good advice
Well, at SSG we think that you can & it is all included in our Service Charge schedule! Ask us, question us, challenge us – we will meet that challenge every time.
£1,000 a day
How much might you need to pay a Non-Exec Director per day to provide the level of mentoring expertise that is available to you through SSG as part of the deal?
Let’s meet. Let’s chat and let’s see how far we can get. It doesn’t have to be at our office and it doesn’t have to be 9am sharp (or even in sharp suit either!).
A sprinkle of
Every now and then, once in a while or occasionally more often, SSG will come up with a little bit of magic! Something that was not planned, it just happened!
On Going Support Sound Bites
OK – let me state for the record our philosophy regarding access to SSG. We would love to be able to insist that you talk to us. SSG would benefit significantly if every Client had to meet with SSG every month. Clients who engage with SSG make more money than Clients who choose not to engage with SSG. As SSG only makes money if our Clients make money, it ought to be obvious that we want you guys to plague us with requests! – It’s how we make our money after all!
The SSG Working Agreement is a reflection of the requirements list created with a budding entrepreneur when we first meet. Together, we define the tools and facilities that you need to launch a business and SSG comes back to you with clarification (& a Service Charge price!) through the ‘War & Peace’ email (& a copy of the Working Agreement). But, things change and so will your contemporary requirements list. But please don’t worry. Again, remember the logic of why we try to be so helpful! We make money when you do, so even if weren’t the lovely guys that we are, we want to provide the tools you need at the time that you need them. Flexibility is very important to our model.
Occasionally, something will crop up which SSG does not provide & did not anticipate – it might be something simple like access to a weird specialist job board or a particular piece of software or an Apple Mac computer – whatever. Our Clients might want to go off piste & purchase the facility directly, which is fine but what can SSG do to help? Well, chat it through with us before you spend any money because not only might we chip in a few £ against the cost, but we might look at lowering our Service Charge if we really believe that your business will generate more money, because – as we have mentioned many times before! – the more money you make, the more money SSG makes!
Will SSG increase our Service Charge throughout the term of our agreement? If the price of job board increases for example, can SSG pass that cost onto to us? What happens if SSG feels that it is not making enough money from a particular Client? Well, right at the start (through the Working Agreement) SSG makes an investment and not only promises to deliver this facility or that facility but we also present the Service Charge schedule – which cannot at any point go up! It can go down of course but what we are confirming here is that the Service Charge schedule represents your worst case – the most that you can ever be charged by SSG.
If SSG is able to introduce a new facility after you have already become part of the group, you have no need to worry that you will not be able to enjoy access to it. To be clear, as we continue to expand the range of services & tools & facilities & gadgets & so on, all Clients get an equal exposure to them – new or old! There is no penalty for being a long standing, loyal Client! The reality is that this happens quite often – we are always on the lookout for new facilities to help our Clients makes money, because… yep, you guessed it, SSG only makes money when our Clients make money!
Value For Money?
Are the tools and facilities provided by SSG value for money? Could our Clients purchase the same tools themselves cheaper? Well, the quick answer to that conundrum is no. SSG buys in huge quantities the tools that we provide to you – job board access being the most obvious example, but we also do great deals with our other suppliers to ensure that we can provide our guys with the tools that they need without having to worry about proving the financial value to our clients. In addition, we ensure that our guys have no fixed costs – if you have a bad month and do not generate any fees then you have no SSG fee to pay. That’s a great combination we believe – value for money + security!
Long Tem Exit
If we do the maths, SSG has launched over 200 businesses since 2003 but does not currently support 200?… So, that must mean that some businesses decide that they no longer need SSG and decide to go their own way, right? Absolutely. Following the end of the initial contract duration (i.e. the 48 month thing) any Client is free to leave the support of the group with no more than a handshake and a smile, & often do. There is nothing wrong with that at all, If that’s what a venture decides then we pack up everything that we look after and help that crazy Client to migrate our service provision to any combination of suppliers which is appropriate to their needs. We have no problem with that at all.
SSG's A Team
Stage 2 of SSG’s offering is all about providing on-going support to your new recruitment business. The success of this aspect of our business is that it is not only process driven but also very personal to each Client. All businesses are different & each business owner has a different set of requirements & faces a different set of challenges. It is our job as a support business to roll with the punches, to go with the flow of what you need and not get too hung up on what our Working Agreement might say. To reiterate, our philosophy is clear; ‘once we are in it, we are in it’ whatever the challenge might be. So, within a framework of ensuring that our Clients meet any legislative compliance requirement that exist, our support ebbs & flows with the daily change of your business needs. But in amongst all these metaphors, please remember this – we don’t get paid until you get paid. We earn nothing unless you are successful. Why wouldn’t we be keen to help?
