Tell me about your recruitment background?

I started working in Technology recruitment around 19 years ago, initially in a support capacity working on the only PC in the office (the office was DOS based), my responsibilities were to write all the adverts and upload them onto the website, however my role quickly developed. 

Not long after this I took my first role as a Recruitment Consultant with a company called SWP, working a market of my own, this was Scotland and I covered every technology area from Software, Hardware, Optics, Engineering and Semiconductor technologies.  I quickly made my mark and was very successful.

I worked at some other companies in between and then joined IC Resources.  My last job title was Business Manager, I stayed with IC Resources for 10 years and had a great time recruiting, setting up a business area and developing a team.

What was your motivation for starting your own recruitment business? 

I think I always wanted to set up my own business, I just wasn’t sure I had all the right experience, however for the last 5 years or so, I feel like I have been in the right place to make the step, but I was in a very good place with my last company, so it was difficult to take the plunge.   Finding out about SSG and all the areas of support they provide, really made it an easy decision when the time came.

What sectors do you cover?  What roles do you specialise in?

Anything Tech really, I have worked many disciplines and trained a team of people.  Key industries for me include: Semiconductors, Consumer Electronics, Wireless, Medical, Industrial, Automotive, Software, Scientific and Fintech.

Jobs include: Software Engineers, Electronics (FPGA, Digital, Analogue, Power, RF/Microwave), Test, Engineering (Mechanical, Quality, Manufacturing), Scientific (Optics, Optoelectronics) and Commercial.

What can customers expect when they work with you?

I want to develop relationships and offer and the best service to my clients.  My customers can expect honesty and delivery.

What are your long term plans for the company?

I think the plan has always been to grow my business and build teams within the areas of expertise I have gained over the years.
