SSG are delighted to announce the launch of Alan Milliner’s new recruitment business. We’ve worked with Alan to help him with his recruitment start-up, and we’ll be supporting him on an ongoing basis. To celebrate to launch of his new business, we spent some time with Alan and asked him to tell us a little bit more about his journey in the recruitment industry up to this point.
Tell me about your recruitment background?
I have had a varied background in recruitment dealing within IT and NHS for the majority. I started with Locum doctors dealing with Consultants in Medicine. This position really helped to me to understand building relationships with your candidates as there are a few clients you can work with as having the candidates onside is key. I then dealt with the Management positions in the NHS, which was a change and more slower process than working with locums.
I then moved into IT recruitment and really found my market and have been able to build on previous experiences to be a success in this market.
What was your motivation for starting your own recruitment business?
Good question. There are various reasons for this, but I believe it because my last company was all about making money for the director and was not worried about building relationships with clients and candidates just the next deal. Which any good recruiter would know this is a poor practice as building key client and candidates relationships is going to bring you more opportunities to make money. I also have a young family and keen to build a success for my family.
What sectors do you cover? What roles do you specialise in?
I also work across all the area’s in IT but my specialism is work with Apple Mac Engineers. With the IT market I with be covering vacancies from 1st – 3rd Line, Infrastructure Engineers, IT Manager, etc
What can customers expect when they work with you?
Honest recruitment, listen to the client to understand the requirement and knowing the market will already have candidates in mind for the position. I will look to provide a quality over quantity approach.
What are your long-term plans for the company?
I am keen to build a company as the number-one Apple Engineer provider in the UK but keen to build this the right way at the start. I would love to have a team of people who really want to come to work and enjoy the company environment.
We’d like to thank Alan for sharing his experiences with us, and we look forward to working closely with him as he continues to build on his vision.
